PJM — Emergency actions of Oct. 13-14 have passed; no newer alerts found

  • 5CP Capacity Tags: No 5CP-specific signal found for today. Latest published load forecasts were 112,447 MW for Oct. 13 and 113,312 MW for Oct. 14, per PJM Inside Lines.
  • Real-Time LMP: No published price data found for the last 24 hours. PJM recalled non-firm sales and about 61,000 MW of generation outages were reported on Oct. 13, a tight-supply backdrop.
  • Demand Response: PJM called Pre-Emergency Load Management on Oct. 13 and 14. A DOE 202(c) order covered Oct. 13-16 and let PJM direct large loads to backup generation, which PJM said it had not used (PJM). Confirm whether any new notices were issued this week.

NYISO — Nothing notable found

  • ICAP Tag Tracking: No tag period changes or auction results surfaced in approved sources. See the NYISO ICAP event calendar.
  • CBEP Program Alerts: No alerts or activations found.
  • Day-Ahead Pricing: No notable zone spreads reported.

ERCOT — Quiet; outside the 4CP window

  • 4CP Season Tracking: The June-September 4CP window has closed, so there are no coincident peak days to watch.
  • ORDC Pricing: No high ORDC adders or reserve shortfalls found in approved sources.
  • Grid Condition Alerts: No Weather Watch, Watch, Warning, Emergency or Conservation Alerts found. Check ERCOT grid conditions for live status.

ISO-NE — Thin operable margins ahead; major transmission outages underway

  • FCM Tag Events: CCP 19 (2028-29) qualification notices were due Oct. 16 and final qualified capacities are due Nov. 2. The FCA for CCP 19 was delayed two years (ISO-NE October ops report).
  • Capacity Market Integration: FERC approved ISO-NE’s review process for asset condition transmission projects on Oct. 16, with an advisory role starting January 2027 (Utility Dive). Scheduled outages include Phase 2 (Oct. 7 to Nov. 2) and the Cross Sound Cable (Oct. 19-31).
  • Load Forecasting: The 50/50 forecast shows a -309 MW CSO-based operable margin for the week of Nov. 7 (-1,147 MW at 90/10). Preliminary winter margins are -810 MW (50/50) and -2,595 MW (90/10) for the week of Jan. 9, 2027. September real-time hub LMP averaged $39.51/MWh.

MISO — No notable signals

  • Zonal Pricing: No notable zone spreads or constraints found in approved sources.
  • Planning Resource Auction: MISO’s 2026 auction release indicated sufficient capacity for the coming year. See the MISO release.
  • Real-Time Settlements: Nothing unusual found.

CAISO — Heat wave eased; wildfire shutoffs expected through Saturday

  • Flex Alerts: None issued in 2026. Demand reached about 46,000 MW on Oct. 5 and CAISO used Restricted Maintenance Operations notices without any forecast shortfall (Utility Dive).
  • Renewable Curtailment: No curtailment volumes reported in approved sources today.
  • NQC Integration: No NQC or RA deficiency notices found. PG&E expects more public safety power shutoffs from Oct. 14 through Oct. 17, possibly affecting more than two dozen counties.

Cross-Market Watch

  • Multi-ISO: NERC reliability standards for data centers and crypto loads of 50 MW or more passed final ballot and go to the NERC Board in Q4, then to FERC (Utility Dive).
  • Regulatory: FERC’s October highlights are posted at ferc.gov. Several PJM and ISO-NE items above are a week old, so verify live notices before acting.

HOW INTELLASTAR ENERGY ANALYST CAN HELP

Today’s conditions create specific opportunities — and risks — for your organization.

PJM — Watch

PJM called demand response last week, so your curtailment readiness may be tested again soon.

Intellastar Energy Analyst tracks PJM alerts and load management events so you know when to act. It also helps you review your DR enrollment and exposure before the next tight day.
